The Chapel Radio
In the beginning there were light bulbs. Then came radios, which rapidly became one of Philips' best-selling products in the first half of the 20th century. By 1929 they had
led Philips to double its workforce. The Chapel Radio, launched in 1938, was a first of its kind. Where previous designs were boxy and impersonal, the Chapel was shapely and incorporated the striking stars and lines logo, making it unmistakably Philips. Stefano
Marzano, the current CEO and chief creative director of Philips Design, recently picked this as his favorite iconic product.
